On a sunny and unseasonably warm October Sunday during Bridal Week, Darby Scott joined Town & Country magazine for a special luncheon for newly engaged guests and their loved ones at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. Alongside sponsors including De Beers, Georg Jensen, Ines Di Santo, Louis XIII, and The Harmonist, Darby Scott was the events handbag sponsor. All the guests were dressed to impress in vibrant patterns, romantic dresses and statement jewelry, and everything from the full pink bouquets to the mouth-watering desserts looked like they came straight out of a magazine spread.

The elegant celebration featured friends of the magazine and included a formal three-course bunch and conversation on modern wedding etiquette, offering brides valuable insight into creating the celebration of their dreams.  Stellene Volandes, Town & Country's Editor in Chief, made the lovely opening remarks where she was sure to mention that both she and her mother were proud owners of some treasured Darby Scott handbags.

Stellene then introduced the panel of impressive figures in the wedding industry. Moderated by Town & Country's Features Director, Eric Maza, the panel included renowned event planner David Monn; founder of Slowdance & Fete, Jung Lee; founder of Beaumont Etiquette, Myka Meier; and T&C’s own bride-to-be, Style & Interior’s Writer, Olivia Martin. Answering questions of the guests as well as providing their own thoughts and opinions on different concerns surrounding the big day, the panel was knowledgeable and genuine and left the audience with more confidence and clarity as they approach their wedding dates.

David Monn, event planner, interior designer, author and artist, was an absolute treat to listen to. He has planned weddings and spectacular events at some of the most well known backdrops of NYC, such as The MET and Guggenheim. His passion for weddings and tradition shone through with all that he said. We could tell the brides loved every second of it (we did too!).

During the event, models provided a visual interlude as they walked, mingled, and showed off their stunning dresses, diamonds, and handbags. Dressed in four gorgeous looks from the Ready to Wear Collection, Darby Scott’s model turned heads in elegant dresses and skirt sets in richly patterned fabrics, showcasing looks for the mother of the bride, bridesmaids, or any other guest with impeccable style.

Darby Scott provided handbags for all the models, including the brides who donned a variety of Darby Scott’s iconic skin and gemstone clutches in shades of white, silver, and gold. As Darby Scott is known to do, the handbags provided a unique blend of handbag and jewelry which were the perfect complement to Ines Di Santos’ extravagant dresses and De Beers’ eye-catching diamond accessories.

The luncheon was an outstanding success, and concluded with a toast to love. Everyone raised their crystal glasses filled with Louis XIII cognac and clinked for a sound that encapsulated the excitement, love, and elegance of all the soon-to-be-married guests in the room. It was a moment we will cherish forever.

At the end of the event, all guests walked home with a Town & Country embroidered tote, filled with gifts from the event sponsors. One lucky winner also took home a set of Darby Scott “Mr.” and “Mrs.” engraved Essex totes for herself and her fiancé.

Darby Scott is thankful to Town & Country for putting together such a beautiful event, and, of course, for their continued support of the brand over the years.
